Multi stage scrubber is often used as air pollution control part of anaerobic wastewater treatment plant because of its low capital cost and easy to operate and maintenance. At Sipraya plant , total air capacity exhausted to the system is 15,000 CMH. In order to avoid discharge of drainage scrubbing liquid with too high or too low pH return to wastewater treatment plant , the system designed to utilize pH meter to adjust the pH.

The result from an independent laboratory shows that H2S emissions can be reduced by 95% using this technology.

The 22,000 m3/ h of malodorous air from domestic anaerobic waste water treatment plant ( YANNAWA) is exhausted into cross and parallel flow packed bed scrubber via polypropylene high static pressure fan (4000 Pa. ) The first chamber is acid to treat NH3 gas and the second is oxidizing chamber to oxidize mercaptan and H2S.
The semi - automatic system controlled by PLC was comprised with tools such as pH meter ,ORP meter, conductivity meter, level control switch,Ultrasonic level control, solenoid valve and drain valve. The effluent air samples were taken for analysis by an independent laboratory and showed qualities that exceeded BMA H2S consent requirement. (<0.01 ppm.)
